About Us

Our Story

Africa Feature Network (AFN) was founded by Kenya’s seasoned freelance journalist, Peter Aowa, whose journey from adversity to leadership has deeply shaped the organisation’s mission. Growing up in one of Kenya’s remote villages, Peter experienced firsthand the systemic injustices that continue to affect many African communities. Grounded in these lived realities and his extensive background in journalism, he established AFN as a network that goes beyond storytelling to actively engage with communities, support local initiatives, and drive practical interventions. The AFN is committed not only to highlighting the continent’s critical challenges, but also to advocating for change and contributing meaningfully to the development and implementation of lasting, community-driven solutions.
