Message From the Leadership

Peter Aowa, Founder & CEO

When I stepped out of my graduation at one of Kenya’s prestigious universities, now an empowered communication professional with digital and print media as my forte, I felt the peace of a great accomplishment and a new chapter to many books which I would write not only about my life but also about society and how acts of goodwill from strangers enabled me to complete university. As a reformed street boy in Kenya’s Kisumu city, I owe my success to a series of well-wishers, most of whom did not know me. As a media practitioner in a space where fake and bad news make trends most, I have witnessed firsthand the effects such acts of ‘journalism’ cause. If the media can cause the very many tragedies we witness today, the same media can be a great foundation for a transformed society. And that’s what informed the idea to start this organisation. We are on an intentional mission to transform Africa through solution journalism and advocacy. We are here to show the world how the media can be used transformatively and its long-term effect. Advocacy is our primary focus, media is our tool. We are action journalists and transformation is our mission.
