Peter Aowa

President and Founder

Aowa is a consummate Pan-African journalist and thought leader driving a new movement for Africa’s transformation. With a strong background in digital, print, and broadcast media, he has contributed to leading publications including The East African Prime, Mt. Kenya Times, People Daily, and The Standard.

Raised in one of Kenya’s most underserved villages and shaped by early experiences of hardship, Peter turned adversity into purpose. After graduating from St. Paul’s University, he committed himself to a lifelong mission of building a platform that empowers young Africans to take ownership of their continent’s future. He is currently advancing his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration studies at the University of the People.

As the Founder of Africa Feature Network, Peter leads a bold, youth-driven initiative to reshape Africa’s narrative and reality. His vision is to have a continent defined not by its challenges, but by the power, innovation and leadership through constructive journalism and social advocacy

Chairperson – Board of Directors

Dr. Harriet Scott, PhD

Dr. Harriet Scott is a distinguished scholar and global thought leader in food sovereignty, gender justice, and African spirituality. Her visionary leadership and strategic insight anchor AFN’s mission to transform Africa through constructive journalism and advocacy. With a strong background in social transformation and a deep commitment to Pan-African development, Dr. Scott brings critical guidance to the board as its Chairperson.

Vice Chairperson – Board of Directors

Mr. Thomas Njoroge Kariuki

Thomas is an accomplished communication expert, policy strategist, and academic. With over 15 years of experience, he has led major projects with UNESCO, UNDP, the U.S. Department of State, and World Vision, and shaped communication policies at both national and regional levels. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies at the University of Nairobi and lectures at St. Paul’s University. His leadership and expertise in development communication and media policy make him a key force in driving AFN’s strategic vision.

Treasurer – Board of Directors

Engineer Cleophas Odhiambo Omanyo

Eng. Omanyo brings more than 15 years of experience in financial management, credit systems, and project oversight. He serves as Senior County Credit Officer at the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, overseeing regional financial operations and compliance. He holds a Master’s degree in Project Management and an academic background in engineering. As Treasurer, he leads AFN’s financial governance, budgeting, and resource mobilisation efforts.

Secretary – Directors

Dr. Titus Oluoch Okoyo, PhD

Dr. Titus is a seasoned educationist with over 25 years of experience in leadership, policy development, and institutional management. He has held leadership roles in Kenya’s education and public sectors, including as a university program coordinator and managing director of a county utility company. He holds a Doctorate in Leadership and Institutional Management from Lead Impact University (USA) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education Management Policy Studies at Moi University. His expertise will advance AFN’s education and youth capacity-building programs.

Mr. David Ezekia Sebit

Mr. Sebit is a trained aviation professional and seasoned logistics expert who has previously served with the United Nations in South Sudan. He brings to the board extensive experience in logistical planning and operations. His focus at AFN will be to strengthen logistical coordination across all programs and ensure efficient implementation of continent-wide activities.
